When I went there for an inquiry, the receptionist was very indifferent and didnt speak to me proactively. When I asked where to get the learner permit test, he didnt tell me to search online but instead directed me to ask at the New York Department of Transportation.

This driving school has friendly service. My dad just passed his first road test. Highly recommended!

Read full review the fact that I dont speak or understand Chinese, I took a chance with them. Initially, I thought this would be an issue but driving instruction is pretty straightforward in any language...signal, turn left, turn right, full stop, yield, etc. Mr. Chen taught me a near foolproof parallel parking method (1-2-1). His lesson route is pretty consistent which gives you a sense of confidence while Huo varies his routes allowing for more spontaneity. I found taking lessons w/both instructors gave me a well-rounded experience driving in the city. Feedback in English is short and simple...sometimes a terse FAIL when I mess up (for example, touching the curb while parallel parking). All comments were very constructive and helped me become an alert and better driver. Thank you Kelly and Andy for being efficient and organized; friendly and helpful! Most of all, many many thanks to Mr. Chen and Huo for their patient instruction as you helped me pass the test on my first try! I highly recommend Canal Driving School but if youre not sure, try a lesson (1.5 hours for $60 - actually two lessons at once; perfect amount of time) to see if theyre a good fit for you.

Super helpful and relatively good price for driving lessons compared to other driving schools. The staff helped me set up a last minute road test appt and I cannot thank them enough for that. The driving lessons are great for those who are learning to drive for the first time or need a refresher. I had Instructor Chen and Instructor Huo. Both ate great. I recommend both instructors for different teaching styles and different driving advice!

My husband and I both study here. He passed the road test the second time, and I passed the test the first time. The Instructor is very experienced. As long as you follow the exercises taught by the Instructor the exam is easy to pass. My Instructor is Huo Strict and experienced, he can accurately point out the problems in your driving, so as to avoid making mistakes during the road test, so I passed the road test once.

So happy to have found this driving school. Great driving school and I got my license! They were really great, got my license in 3 weeks. Good lesson and techniques. I will highly recommend!

Highly recommend Mr. Chen as a driving instructor, passed my test today all thanks to him! I had a horrible experience with another instructor so know how important it is to have a good instructor. Mr Chen is always patient and informative and answered all my questions. Would highly recommend taking lessons with him.

I started with another driving school and got terrible experiences and developed bad practices for driving. I am lucky enough to meet Mr Chen, who is extremely patient, willing to answer the questions and explain the logic behind the signs/rules. Some practices he taught me impressed the examiner. As a person who is a bit afraid of speed and never thought of driving, I really appreciate his patience of helping me practice again and again. The office stuff are nice as well: they sent good notices a day before classes, warm and encouraging, and very accommodating. Highly recommended.

Coach Lee is very patient and professional! He doesn t speak English that much but he knows what the examiner wants to see during the road test. Pointed out my mistakes and helped me to correct them. Also taught me some important tricks for the test. Passed the test at first try! People work in the office are very friendly and responsible as well!
